Root Canal Treatment​

Teeth that have long standing decay and neglect may either become extremely sensitive to hot or cold temperatures and/or may lead to the development of a Dental Abscess. If tooth extraction is not an option and if the tooth in question needs to be saved, then a Root Canal Treatment is considered. The affected tooth is de-nerved under local anesthesia, debrided and cleaned in order to restore the health of the tooth back to its normal function.
With modern dental techniques, Root Canal Treatments are not painful and can increase the longevity of the tooth in question. It is essential that a Dental Crown be placed over a Root Canal Treated tooth in order to maintain the structural integrity of the tooth as a Root Canal Treated tooth renders it a “dead” tooth which loses its overall strength and color over time.
